Q: What should I expect at Appalachian Integrative Psychology?
A: At Appalachian Integrative Psychology, you will receive quality mental health services in
a warm and welcoming environment. You will have privacy and confidentiality in a
professional setting with a provider that will respect your personal and professional
boundaries.
Q: There are other providers in the area who provide similar services. Why should I choose
Appalachian Integrative Psychology?
A: As an expert in diagnosis, case formulation, and treatment planning, you will receive
services that will provide you with evidence-based treatment to meet your specific needs.
You will also receive skills-based training to supplement process-based therapy, which will
assist in your wellbeing over time.
Q: I see that you offer faith-based integration when providing therapy services. How is that
different than pastoral counseling or a spiritual coach?
A: As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Love has significant clinical experience and
educational training. As a graduate of a program that emphasized faith-based integration,
he is able to incorporate spirituality and faith into the therapy process while also providing
treatment that is evidence-based and psychologically sound.
Q: Do you offer free consultations?
A: Yes! Initial consultations will be scheduled for up to 30 minutes free of charge.
Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: At this time, Appalachian Integrative Psychology does not accept insurance. All services
will be self-pay at the time of service.
Some insurance plans offer out-of-network reimbursement. I can provide you with a
“superbill” (an itemized receipt with necessary codes) that you may submit to your
insurance company for potential reimbursement upon request. Please check with your
insurance provider directly to determine coverage.
Q: Will you submit the superbill or work with insurance companies to get my sessions
covered?
A: Appalachian Integrative Psychology will not submit the form to your insurance company
or work directly with insurance providers.
Q: Do you offer a sliding scale or reduced rates?
A: There is currently a “New Client Special” that offers sessions at a discounted rate. No
other offers are available at this time.
Q: Do you provide therapy for children, couples, or families?
A: Services offered will vary on a case-by-case basis. Please reach out via phone or email to
inquire about children, couples, and/or family sessions.
Q: How many therapy sessions will I need?
A: The length of therapy depends on your goals, needs, and progress. Some clients benefit
from short-term therapy (6–12 sessions), while others choose ongoing support. We will
review progress regularly and determine what is right for you
Q: What happens in the first session?
A: The first session is an intake appointment where we review your history, current
concerns, and goals. It will be a time for your provider to learn critical information about
you in order to begin developing an appropriate treatment plan and goals of care.
Q: Do you offer telehealth?
A: Telehealth services will not be offered at this time.
Q: Is therapy confidential?
A: Yes; however, there are some exceptions to that rule. Information shared in therapy is
mostly confidential and protected by law. Exceptions include risk of harm to self or others,
suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult, or if records are court-
ordered.
Q: Can I access my records?
A: Yes, you may request copies of your records. Requests must be in writing, and
administrative fees may apply.
Q: Can you communicate with my doctor, school, or family?
A: Only if you provide written consent through a Release of Information form. Otherwise,
your treatment remains private.
Q: What if I need medication?
A: Psychologists do not prescribe medication. If medication might help, I can provide
referrals to a psychiatrist or primary care physician. Therapy can be combined with
medication management if appropriate.
Q: What if I’m in crisis?
A: This practice does not provide emergency services. If you are in immediate danger or
crisis, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
Q: Do you offer after-hours or weekend appointments?
A: Yes! Due to the nature of availability of the provider, after-hours and weekend
appointments are preferred.
Q: Can I bring someone with me to therapy?
A: Therapy is generally most effective one-on-one, but in some cases, a trusted support
person may be invited for part of a session with your consent.
Q: What if I want to stop therapy?
A: You are free to end therapy at any time. Ideally, we will plan a final session to review
progress, discuss next steps, and provide referrals if needed.
